PRACTICE DESCRIPTION
Mr. Jones has served as lead counsel in numerous significant cases, such as successfully resolving, on behalf of a target defendant, one of the largest trust and estate cases ever filed in East Texas. Further examples of his practice include his service as lead counsel or trial counsel in anti-trust, defamation, oil and gas, and class action litigation - each involving millions of dollars. Most recently, he has represented numerous clients in intellectual property and patent litigation, such as helping to obtain a jury verdict of non-infringement with regard to two patents for a defendant in Marshall, Texas, and helping obtain a $41 million judgment which was reported in the top 10 Texas verdicts and settlements for 2004 by VerdictSearch Texas. His experience in patent litigation led him to serving repeatedly on the faculty of the American Law Institute - American Bar Association "Trial of a Patent Suit" seminar. Throughout his 34 years of experience as a trial lawyer, Mr. Jones has handled a diverse array of complex litigation involving intellectual property, personal injury, product liability, professional liability, environmental liability, media liability, class-actions, and business controversies. He has represented both plaintiffs and defendants.

SPEAKING AND WRITING
Mr. Jones has taught in a number of areas. His article, Why, Where and How to e-File was published in the August 21, 2006 issue of Texas Lawyer. He has a particular interest in lawyer ethics since he served as Chairman of the District 2A Grievance Committee for the State Bar of Texas. Further, Mr. Jones work for newspaper, television, and radio clients has led him to teach in the area of media law. He has taught Mass Media Law at the University of Texas at Tyler. He has served as a lecturer and faculty member for the State Bar of Texas Continuing Legal Education Programs (such as the Advanced Civil Trial Law Seminar and Federal Court Practice) and Smith County Bar Association Seminars. Mr. Jones has served as a speaker and panelist at seminars presented by such entities as the Bar Association for the Eastern District of Texas, the SMU School of Law, and the American Law Institute of the American Bar Association.

PERSONAL
Born in Shreveport, Louisiana, Mr. Jones grew up in Tulsa, Oklahoma, the son of a lawyer. After graduating from law school, he joined the oldest law firm in Tyler, Texas - then known as Potter, Guinn, Minton and Dickerson where he has practiced his entire career. He met his wife, the former Pamela K. Wood, also a former Baylor University student, in Tyler. They have a son, Camden, who, along with his wife, Amanda, resides in Tyler, and a daughter, Megan, who, along with her husband, resides in Dallas, Texas.
