The Directors and Shareholders of Potter Minton have elected James L. Hedrick President and Managing Shareholder of the Firm effective immediately. He has been serving as the head of the Firm s Business Section and as a member of the Firm s Executive Committee. For years Jim has been the consummate lawyer at Potter Minton, and now his skills and leadership will direct the business of the Firm. We couldn t be in better hands, said Michael E. Jones, his predecessor.

Mr. Hedrick attended the United States Air Force Academy as an undergraduate and Baylor University School of Law. He graduated from law school cum laude in 1983 and was the Associate Editor of the 1982 Baylor Law Review. Since his graduation, he has practiced business law for 23 years with Potter Minton. His practice involves commercial lending, commercial real estate, and corporate and general business matters. Mr. Hedrick routinely performs the negotiation, planning and documentation of all kinds of business agreements and transactions, resolution of business disputes, and representation of clients in litigation and arbitration of business disputes. He frequently represents clients in purchases and sales of businesses, real estate, stock and assets. He handles loan workout and collection matters and advises lenders with regard to issues of lender liability. His practice also includes probate matters, as well as condemnation cases.

Mr. Hedrick has served in the community as a member of the Board of Trustees of All Saints Episcopal School, Tyler (1999-2005), member of the Board of Directors of the Better Business Bureau of Central East Texas, Inc., and as a volunteer advisor to East Texas Crisis Center Board of Directors. He is a member of the Texas Association of Bank Counsel and an associate member of the Independent Bankers Association of Texas.
